Climate Change Science
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent public body established under the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992. The mission of EPA is to protect and improve the natural environment for present and future generations, taking into account the environmental, social and economic principles of sustainable development. EPA research reports show significant climate change impacts are expected to occur in Ireland over the coming decades.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been established by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information relevant for the understanding of climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation. The main activity of the IPCC is to provide at regular intervals an assessment of the state of knowledge on climate change.
