The next government will probably hold power for about half the time the scientists say we have to prevent runaway climate change. We have to send them a message that we want a reduction in emissions to be firmly on the agenda.
Stop Climate Chaos is hosting Umbrella Action Day at the Martello Tower in Sandymount on Sunday, June 10th at 3 p.m. Bring an umbrella, bring the kids and a picnic, do a biodiversity survey and have some fun, but above all show the government you want: a future for your children; a decent life for the world's poor; hope for the planet. Choreographer Muirne Bloomer and some dancers will lead the crowd in an umbrella demonstration to the strains of the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't it be nice." And it would the nice if the new government took firm action to reduce emissions, wouldn't it? It won't happen unless the people send them a message. This is your chance.
