Join us on the streets on November 14th to reclaim our future.

We all felt it – the hottest summer on record. Hot on the heels of one of the wettest winters, which brought destructive storms and flooding to communities all over Ireland.

We all saw it – wildfires ravaging Europe. Devastating floods in Nepal.

We all know it – our warming planet is becoming less safe.

And Ireland’s response? Rather than upgrading our energy, housing and transport systems to tackle rising costs, phase out fossil fuels, and reduce pollution, our government is hiking public transport costs and paving the way for more energy-hungry data centres and new fossil gas terminals.

Meanwhile communities on the frontlines around the world are paying the price for a crisis that they did not create. War and conflict continue to devastate lives and ecosystems. Greedy corporations reap record profits while people struggle just to make ends meet. This is deeply unjust.

But the fight for a safe, healthy, and fair world is far from over.

On November 14th demonstrations and marches will take place across the world during the COP31 global climate talks. This is our chance to join together, stand up and speak out.

We have the solutions:

A fossil free future - Ireland needs to step up the phase-out of fossil fuels, and abandon proposals that are incompatible with this commitment. This means a ban on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and no new fossil fuel infrastructure.

Energy for people, not for data centres - Data centres are responsible for increasing our energy bills and for keeping Ireland hooked on fossil fuels. We need real energy justice with a renewable energy system that is protected against the volatility of geopolitical price shocks. Ireland must impose a moratorium on new data centres until our climate commitments are met.

A fair and just transition for everyone - as we rebuild our energy, transport, housing, and food systems, we need to make sure that no one is left behind, and that women and disadvantaged communities are finally placed at the heart of change. Climate action can’t be just for those who can afford it.

Strong legal climate protections - our climate law is the best legal protection we have to guarantee climate justice, and is a part of a global structure to meet our fair-share under the Paris agreement. The climate law must be protected, not undermined.

Affordable public transport for all - we must reverse the increase in public transport fares and provide funding for shovel-ready public transport and active travel projects.

A world without fossil influence - we must curb the power and influence of fossil fuel companies and lobbyists. We need clean air, clean water, and healthy soils and to stop polluting industries taking more than the earth can give.

Make polluters pay - we must introduce a permanent tax on fossil fuel energy profits. The revenues should finance a just energy transition in Europe and reduce the burden of costs on people, while Ireland does its fair share to financially support countries most affected by climate change around the world.

Clean energy that doesn’t drive war and conflict - we can end our dependence on oil and gas which exacerbates geopolitical conflicts and results in energy and cost-of-living crises. From Iran to Venezuela, we must disentangle ourselves from fossil fuel conflict.

Leadership on the global stage not climate hypocrisy - COP31 in Turkey must become a turning point in global climate action, and Ireland must demonstrate leadership as it negotiates on behalf of the EU during its presidency at COP31 in Turkey and in its role as co-host of the Conference to Transition Away from Fossil Fuels process.

Together, we are more powerful than corporations and lobbyists who care only about profits.

Together, we can protect the people and places we love.

Together, we can reclaim a safe, healthy, and fair future.
